Hi Andrew,
I hope your semester is going well. I'm writing on behalf of U.S.
PIRG, the federation of State Public Interest Research Groups. As a
leader of MENC on campus, you might be interested to know more about
our career opportunities with our organization.
U.S. PIRG is a nation-wide network of state-based public interest
advocacy groups. This year we are hiring more than 100 graduating
college students who will work on a range of public interest issues,
from protecting and improving public health to making college more
affordable and working for more and better public transportation,
including high-speed rail.
Our staff make an impact on these and many other public interest
issues. I got my start as a campus organizer at UMASS Amherst where I
recruited and trained over 60 students how to effectively organize
campaigns that help increase funding for mass transit, build support
for clean energy legislation, and alleviate poverty. Now, I work with
Toxics Action Center, a public health and environmental non-profit
within our network of organizations, that works side by side with
community groups to clean up and prevent toxic pollution.
I'm setting aside time, over the next 2 weeks, to interview interested
UVM seniors over the phone. I encourage you to get in touch with me if
you are interested.
I am also wondering if you can spread the word about our career
opportunities to other students you know. Could you suggest other
seniors who you think would be interested in a career with U.S. PIRG?
I’ve also attached an announcement below to send out to the campus
groups you belong to. Please let me know if you can pass this on to a
particular group or club.
Thanks in advance for your support.

******* PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO OTHER UVM STUDENTS*******
U.S. PIRG is hiring 100 graduating seniors to work as campus
organizers and fellows.
U.S. PIRG is a network of state-based advocacy groups that work on
behalf of the public interest on a range of key issues, from
advocating for policies that will protect consumers from big banks and
credit card rip-offs, to educating citizens and students about energy
efficiency, and increasing participation in democracy. U.S. PIRG has
a 40-year track record of organizing on these issues and is hiring
graduating seniors to jump right in and make a critical impact as a
campus organizer or in our fellowship program.
