LOL A friend of mine who is a great birder and I on a CBC counting the usual thousands of Canada Geese on Hedges. 1 lone Snow Goose in the multitudes. We drove to the backside of the lake and as we were taking another look at the Snow Goose from a closer vantage realized it was a bouy. Yeah, been there. The stuff of legends. Kevin

This has been a fascinating discussion – and I like the idea of
closing it with Hector’s advice about chilling out.
I’ve been birding for decades so I’ve made many (MANY)
misidentifications. One of the most memorable was at Ding Darling NWR
in Florida. I was on the tourist tram that goes slowly along the five-
mile drive through the swamps. Suddenly I yelled out, “Anhinga! My
first ever! Yay!” Everyone whipped their heads around and stared with
amazement – at a black plastic garbage bag hung up on mangrove branches.
