Forceful south winds were tolerably mild but they necessitated a degree of
perseverance to birding today!
Carolina Wren at Shelburne Point;
Cackling Goose and Green-winged Teals at Shelburne Bay;
Northern Pintails and Hooded Mergansers at Little Otter Creek: (just
beginning to open up.)
Northern Pintails and Gadwalls at Fort Cassin/Porter Bay. (Fully open.)
also, several Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks, a single Rough-legged Hawk, a
single Cooper's Hawk and a lone Turkey Vulture.
Incidentally the Lemon Fair wetland in Shoreham on 22A has been
dredged/chanelized, (post Irene), and it will be interesting gauge the impact as
several of us birders from down south have stopped there in the past to observe
and record the waterfowl and related wetland species.
