I moved a webcam to the back side of our shed. It is facing west toward the
marsh behind our house. It is low quality. If that bear happened to walk by,
it would appear as a single black pixel on the screen. But, it will give you
a wider view of what I see every day. Plus, there is sound. Even now, at
10:30pm, I can hear so many noises outside.
I won't be leaving it up permanently. Will probably be for this weekend
only. It works fine in Internet Explorer, but not always 100% in other
browsers, like Firefox. It is a standard IP camera, so it also works with
free iPhone and Android apps. It gets redirected to a free DNS site that
makes the link between the outside internet world and my home intranet.
Check it out. Crank up the sound. No zoom, but it does allow left/right,
up/down motion. Not sure what happens if more than one person tries to move
it, but it won't hurt anything. It's pitch black out there now, but noisy.
