We deploy network printers through active directory. We create an OU and
put all the machines that need a specific printer in that OU, create a
queue on a server that sends jobs to that printer, make sure both 32 and
64 bit drivers are set up on that queue, then create a group policy for
that OU that deploys that printer. When users log in, the printer just
appears, and I never had to go anywhere near any of the machines.
