Greetings fellow List Serve Farmers:
I don't know if it is a result of the mild winter but two farmers in the Dighton, Mass area
just lost all their onion transplants to onion maggot. They planted last friday and as of
yesterday they are pretty much gone.... the maggot starts at the roots and works its way
up into the baby bulb. We are thinking it may have started in the greenhouses; who knows!
Keep an eye out for these guys. If you can't cover early plantings with remay put out yellow
sticky cards. They work for us for cabbage maggot this time of year. All the Best Skip
