Thank you to all of the kind people who, oh so gently, corrected my
identification of the Hermit Thrush...In an earlier post, I confessed the
fact that I struggle with thrushes and that problem is confirmed! I am, I
thought, much better with the thrushes songs and calls and identified the
bird based upon the "beer" call note. I also heard the Bicknell's song
several times (although it was around noon) and didn't hear another thrush
except a somewhat distant Swainson's. Oh well, I really appreciate the
kind tones! And I am glad that I did not "eBird it" until I got feedback
from the VTBird participants!
This evening, we had three Evening Grosbeaks (maybe four) at our feeders.
It is the first time that I can remember seeing them in the "summer" and we
never had them at all this winter. Is this late spring visit as strange as
I think it is?
