The number of fledglings buzzing around the yard is increasing daily. Between the 3-4 Downies, several Song Sparrows, a couple Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, a bunch of Red-winged Blackbirds, 3 Starlings, at least 1 Oriole and the 10 or so adult Hummingbirds that are dive-bombing the feeders, it looks like the L.A. freeway system.
There are regular crash landings and pile-ups. And everyone is trying everyone else's food.
I know there are several Barn Swallow nests, a Warbling Vireo nest, probably a few Hummingbird nests, one bluebird home, the Goldfinches, Chickadees, Robins and some Tree Swallows that will all be adding to the melee soon. (perhaps some already have, and I just haven't recognized all the babies)
We're enjoying the show. And the Chipmunks are absolutely loving all the seed that's being spilled onto the lawn.
