Chris, We did hear a Winter Wren while doing Bird-a-thon May 21 on the lower (Arl) end of Kelly Stand Rd. We met a WALL of debris about 30 feet high that stopped us from going very far up that road - just past the homes. That was pretty unbelievable!! We usually hear WIWR much higher up, so were delighted to get it lower. Also usually hear them on side of Green Peak where I do my Forest Bird Monitoring transect. None on Mon when I did a prelim. check on access. Maybe this week when I do the real thing?

> Lincoln Sparrow (which is hard to find in Windham Co) greeted me with song at a management area just off the road to Grout Pond from Kelly Stand Rd in Somerset, Green Mtn Nat’l Forest.

> Also, I have yet to see/hear a Winter Wren in Windham Co – has anyone in SE Vt heard/seen WIWR? What is the presence/absence of WIWR in other parts of the state?
