What is your derivatization method? How different are the retention times
for D- and L-alanine when they're injected separately? I use
isopropanol/trifluoroacetic anhydride for derivatization and a 100-m
Chirasil L-val column to routinely separate amino acid enantiomers,
including D- and L-alanine.

I am stuck trying to separate D alanine from L alanine. I get peaks for
several amino acids, I get D alanine when injected alone, I get L alanine
when injected alone, but cannot get both as different peaks when they are
mixed. I tried the columns cydex b and an old chirasil val. Does any body
have any hint?
