Today eight participants "kicked off" the first month of year twelve of the
monthly bird monitoring exercise of the West Rutland marsh. Forty-one
species were tallied and one taxa, [Willow/Alder], a set of three flycatchers
together, that did not reveal their identity by either call or song.
Of interest and the object of prolonged scrutiny was a Merlin also nice to
see a Philadelphia Vireo, a bird only recorded at the marsh during fall
migration.
