Our delightful "Uncle Hummer" left last week. Every now and then you get a
special hummingbird.
Earlier this summer I posted about his devotion to the phoebe family:
He parked near to and facing them as they progressed - his default position.
And sometimes flew to shrubs along with a phoebe parent. Always
passively--no aggression I ever saw.
Later in the summer he allowed females to feed with him - a rarity here.
Most mornings I'd rise by 6:00 and find him sitting atop our feeder; dusk too.
Happy travels, Uncle!
