I was trained to label them RA1, RA2, etc. if they branch off the aorta.

Thanks for your response.My understanding of "accessory" is a branch off the main renal artery where as the other RAs come directly off the aorta.I assume if there are more than one RA then we would label RA a then RA b etc. then provide prox. mid & distal measurements for each one.Im typing this & thinking I've answered my own ? Jim, what criteria do "we" know to evaluate 2 renal arteries? And how
do we define "accessory" renal arteries. I am at a loss here. Our
technology continues to improve and I have seen as many as four
"renal" arteries. Which are "accesory"? More importantly which are
unimportant?
Kidneys need bloodflow to function. I state the obvious, but what
criteria tells us which artery is an accessory? Will the real renal
artery please stand up?
