Hello all,
This is a great course that is being offered by Deanna
Garrett-Ostermiller of the Center for Student Ethics and Standards, next
semester. I am hoping that you can share this with students that you
think would be interested and any student listservs that you may have
access to. If you or a student has any questions, please feel free to
contact Deanna at 656-4360 or [log in to unmask]

Thanks all!
Louise

Here's the info:

Check out this course for spring semester: Intergroup Dialogue

EDHI 230: Training in Intergroup Dialogue (12399)
Spring Semester: Wednesdays, 3:00-5:50pm in the Allen House
This course satisfies the Diversity 2 requirement (Human and Societal
Diversity) for most students

The Intergroup Dialogue course explores the intersection of identities
including race, ethnicity, gender, religion, social class, and sexual
orientation. The class will also explore issues such as racism,
sexism, and classism through films, readings, in-class exercises,
guest presenters, facilitated dialogue, and written reflections.

The course will allow students to learn about various social
identities as well as build knowledge to engage in dialogue with
others regarding identity. Course topics and readings will also cover
the nature of dialogue, the intergroup dialogue model, basic
facilitation skills, oppression and privilege, and taking action
toward developing a socially just community.

Please note that while EDHI 203A does fulfill the University-wide
Diversity 2 (D2) requirement, some Schools and Colleges have
additional requirements regarding D2 courses. For students in the
College of Arts and Sciences, EDHI 230A may be used as an elective,
but it does not satisfy the CAS-specific D2 Non-European Cultures
requirement. Please check with your advisor or the Dean’s office in
your School or College regarding whether EDHI 230A will satisfy
specific requirements.
