Kristen Renn, Professor of Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Learning at
Michigan State University to UVM as part of the Distinguished Burack
Lecture Series.

About Dr. Renn: Dr. Kristen Renn is a Professor of Higher, Adult, &
Lifelong Education at Michigan State University. She was a student
affairs professional for 12 years before joining the faculty. Her
research and teachings focuses on issues of identity in higher
education, including studies of mixed race identities; lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students; and leaders of identity-based
student organizations. She is currently conducting an international
study of women’s higher education, funded by the Spencer Foundation,
which has brought her to 15 women’s colleges and universities in 11
