The Applied Geochemistry Group in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Calgary (Alberta, Canada) invites applications from highly qualified individuals for a 2-year postdoctoral fellow (PDF) position to commence in 2013. The successful applicant will work in one of the following two areas:
1. Develop and refine chemical and isotopic tracer techniques for assessing potential stray gas contamination of shallow aquifers as a result of multistage hydraulic fracturing in shale gas plays in Canada;
2. Application of oxygen isotope measurements on phosphate for tracing sources and processes affecting nutrient cycling in selected eutrophic watersheds in Canada.
Candidates should have strong experience in aqueous and isotope geochemistry and an excellent academic track record related to one of the two research areas listed above. The ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment and fluency in English are essential. At the time of appointment, candidates must have completed all requirements for their PhD within the past 3 years.
