At 6 degrees what besides 'owl love' would cause hooting on such a cold night to be?  Delighted to be hearing the Horned Owl as it has been a species missing in these parts for some time... none in my yard block during the entire Breeding Bird Atlas and this guy the last few months.
I'm huddled inside my nice warm house, and yet I can hear the hooting outside... must be pretty close by.. and he seemed to 'like' my talk too!!
