Our youth team members tallied an impressive number of life birds! None of
them had birding the New England coast in the winter and they racked up over
20 lifers each. We'll have to go back next year though to pick up a King
Eider!

Hi Patti (& VTBirders),

Two mixed-aged teams of young and adult birders participated in the
Superbowl of Birding this past Saturday in Essex Co. MA.  The North Branch
Nature Center has sponsored youth birding teams for competitions since 1999
and this was our fifth time participating in the Superbowl.  These events
have been a really fun way to get together kids with a common interest in
birds and celebrate that love for birds together.

A full report is posted at NBNC's blog (link below) but the combined species
total from our two teams was 68 with nearly every team member having a 'life
bird' (or two, or twenty!).  A full species list is posted

Our next competition will be the World Series of Birding in Cape May Co.
NJ. on May 11.  Any teens interested in participating can contact me for
more info.
