Stopping at Meach cove at about noon today, I was greeted by a very thick fog that soon engulfed the entirety of the cove. Just before it swallowed up all of the waterfowl, I noticed what was probably the same long-tailed that I saw last week here. After a couple more quick stops on my way south, I came back to Meach cove to find that the fog had been pushed back out of the cove and an amazingly clear, calm cove revealed itself and I again found the long-tailed in quite close proximity with a few goldeneyes. An eagle unfortunately spooked it though I presume because though I did not see it fly off, I could not find it again thereafter. This duck does stay underwater feeding longer than most of the other ducks so be patient if you go! Additionally, I counted at least 60 ring-necks here.
I also offered a mother and daughter to get great looks of the adult bald while perched out on the northern perch, they loved it and always a joy to share birds with others.
