Join the Burlington Section of the Green Mountain club on Friday March 15th (6:45pm) at the McCarthy Recital Hall at St. Michael’s College in Colchester VT to hear Dr. Allan M. Strong, University of Vermont discuss ‘Birding the Green Mountains: Habitats, Elevational Gradients, and Climate Change’. Bird diversity is strongly linked with elevation. Consequently, one of the best ways to see lots of birds is to climb a mountain. You’ll notice that the birds at the trailhead are totally different from those on the summit. Allan will talk about the bird communities of the Green Mountains and what you might expect to see and hear as you trek up one of our scenic peaks. He will discuss some of the habitat cues that can help in bird identification and some of the threats to our high elevation bird species. Photos will accompany. Admission is $5 members/$8 nonmembers; kids under 12 are free. Tickets available at the door only. All proceeds support GMC’s local sections and the Education Program.
