We have also experienced this problem. For us, it was solved by performing Windows Updates--apparently, the malicious software update was the culprit.

Suzanne, my experience was with a Delta+ XP coupled to the Costech. There
was a time when this was happening all of the time, especially when no was
looking; it was driving us to insanity. I found that it is best to keep all
other Isodat programs/windows closed and the same goes for any other
programs (internet browser, Microsoft Office etc.) when running. It still
happened every once in a while, but it became very rare when this simple
rule was followed.
