Hello Vermont Birders:

One of the many reasons baby leaf season is my favorite time of year is the
early sunrise. I can now get out for some birding when my daughter is still
asleep but before my wife has to leave for work. I headed to Geprag's Park
in Hinesburg this morning and scared up 39 species. The migration this
spring still seems sluggish to me but I had a lot of fun.

The Blue-winged / Golden-winged Warbler complex sure is muddy water. Of the
four encounters I had, not one had matching song and plumage. I described
it in more detail on my eBird report which is listed below.

Tennessee Warbler was probably my "best" bird.

*Blue-winged Warbler  2 *    First bird showed normal plumage pattern but
song varied between normal BWWA song and GWWA with last three notes off a
bit. Second bird was heard only near 116 and just assumed BWWA because of
typical song

*Golden-winged Warbler  2 *    First bird had normal plumage pattern but
sang the classic BWWA song. Second bird had typical plumage pattern but
singing a buzzy, accelerating trill which sometimes ended in a down-slurred
note (never heard a version like that before)
