An exciting bird walk with folks who were largely novice birders from the
Chandler Center for the Arts auction who bid successfully and enjoyed this
glorious day.  Our local IBA got them very excited about continuing!

Highlights:

North end of pond:

American Bittern flushed, flew across to the other side, and took his
characteristic pose
2 Common Loons looking cozy with each other
Male Wood Duck and Hooded Mergansers with breeding plumage shouting out at
us
A singing N. Waterthrush in amongst some Yellow Warblers who let us scope
him for quite a while
Red-winged Blackbirds displaying--an amazing display from one female
Warbling Vireo

Near Black Road:

At least two Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers territorially calling and drumming
Yellow-rumped Warblers singing from a distance and a couple of sightings
Two male Cardinals singing

Trail to Irish Hill:

Winter Wren singing
Blue-headed Vireo singing
Several Yellow-rumped warblers singing
Two Ovenbirds singing

The leaves are really bursting forth--getting harder to see the little guys
in the denser forest.
