I'd forgotten how brilliant is a scarlet tanager; it was nice of him to announce himself.
The male hummingbird arrived on Mother's Day and the female four days later; 
it seemed that she no sooner had arrived when the male performed an "arc" 
and another year begins.

Phoebes on nest.. 
Hermit thrush and ovenbirds are in place..
Black-throated green and chestnut-sided warblers are singing today.

I expect to soon hear the bird that brings in the rear of the migrants each year:
the woods pee wee.
