Sadly, at a NC Society Meeting @ 1998 - I watched a tearful RVT tell his story of a Felony being filed against him by a female patient for "inapproprIate touching" during the RT Leg Venous Exam. The exact info is known around Raleigh. He placed a washcloth near the CFV.
Having attended Michigan State Law School-Detroit College of Law- I knew something about what a felony can be. Your own malpractice insurance or the hospital's malpractice insurance does not protect you against a felony.(!)This young sonographer was pulled off his job for many months until a cash settlement was kindly paid by the hospital. (95% of lawsuits never go before s judge.)
Wise Indian Chief's like Frank West and Don Ridgway have seen it all and I would follow them and their wisdom. You can find an entire legal chapter in Marveen Craig's book-Essentials of Sonography 3rd edition 2013.Used on Amazon less than 40 $- I consulted with Marveen -known as another wizard and wise -Indian chief. No residuals to me -just a handy tool in your toolbox.
