I made an appearance this evening and lucked out as well! After my arrival,
there was an arrival of Leasts (11). Also seen in the wet west side area:
3 Solitary SP
2 Pectoral SP
1 Semipalmated Plover
1 Semipalmated SP
9 Killdeer
There should be more habitat for shorebirds tomorrow because the water hose
filling the cattle's trough was left on.....it will be extra convenient
since it is very close to the road!
Lastly, I noticed several signs have been added to the one at the gate
along the fencing perimeter reminding people to not enter the treatment
facility. Several months ago there was a burglary there and the police now
patrol the road. The settlement pond nearest to the road has the lowest
water level (because of ground hogs tunneling into the embankment: CAREFUL
WALKING IN THE TALL GRASS BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY HOLES!).
Enjoy!

Thanks for confirming the pectoral sandpiper Maeve and Jim. I swung
by the lagoon en route to Albany this morning, waving quickly to Maeve
on my way out. I too thought I'd seen the pectoral, but from where I
was viewing I had too much distortion on my scope to make a call. Darn!
