On a recent stay in Ogunquit, Maine, we saw several little gulls (first year) over
two days, feeding from little pools of water on the sandy beach. They all made
very rapid back and forth motions with their feet in 2-3 inches of water, apparently
stirring up some very small critters which they then plucked from the water.
I can't find a word about this feeding behavior anywhere - anyone have any
experience with it?
