The barn swallow discussion is good. Numbers are down in one area and up in another. Solution? Ebird is a way to get a scientific population count. We are doing it for the birds?

One more comment on Barn Swallows, here at Danby Four Corners there are as
many if not more than normal. The late freeze and abundance of rain did
not seem to have an adverse effect on the nesting. Snug as a bug in the
barns. The Clift Swallows on the other hand have rebuilt nest several
times under the eves of the Town Hall. With all of the wet weather nest did
not dry and kept falling down.
