I plan to sample Miocene lake sediments for O and C stable isotope analysis of CaCO3 (the sediment is a carbonate rich silty clay). I looked in geochemistry textbooks, in papers, but I found nowhere the best way to preserve the sediments.
I read in the archives of this list that for organic sediments, the best way to preserve them is to freeze them, but does this also apply to inorganic sediments? I assumed that sealable bags was enough, but I may be very wrong.
Thank you for any help and advice you could provide.
