Sorry for the late post, I couldn't get to this until work today, but yesterday at around 12:45 in the afternoon I observed a sandhill crane flying more or less north over the 17th/18th fairway at the Links at Lang Farm, in Essex. This was my first sighting in VT, and my second sighting overall, and both times were without binoculars at hand. But this bird was low enough and close enough to make the determination that it was a sandhill crane.
