I saw a mature bald eagle swooping over the fields at Rock Point. The
weirdest part was that it was carrying a branch that was about 2-3' long.
Any ideas why it may have been carrying that? And it was definitely a
branch and not a snake.
Other highlight was finding a barred owl carcass in a ravine. It had been
decomposing for at least a few weeks. The skull had a big chunk torn out of
the parietal. Non of the feathers were ripped or kinked at the base. I
imagined it was scavenged and something had gone after its brain?!
