There was a Little Gull swimming with 18 Bonaparte Gulls when I arrived at Shelburne Bay this afternoon. This gull had a black cap, a fine, thin bill, and was noticeably smaller than the Bonaparte Gulls. Later the Little Gull began foraging with a group of bonies, revealing the dark underside of its wings.
Also, a Bald Eagle passed overhead followed a bit later by a Merlin, stirring the troops up a little.
