I spent the morning in Addison County and stumbled upon a large (for this
time of the year) flock PECTORAL SANDPIPERS at the Whitney Creek Access area
along route 125 near the Champlain Bridge. I counted the birds twice coming
up with totals of 84 and 86 birds respectively. Also with them were 4 to 6
DUNLIN. Other birds on the water/mudflats included;
12 NORTHERN PINTAILS
4 AMERICAN PIPITS
7 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS
At McCuen Slang Access Area there was a single GREATER YELLOWLEGS.
Earlier in the morning I had 4 BRANT fly south down the lake at the Tri-Town
Water Treatment Facility and there was a single RED-NECKED GREBE just
offshore.
Lastly, near the intersection of Slang and West Roads was a dark morph
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.
