I decided to do a bit of a raptor survey this morning by vehicle. I drove
40 miles through Bridport, Addison, Panton, and Ferrisburgh. I counted a
total of 47 raptors of 6 species. Here is the species count..
Red-tailed Hawk: 20
Rough-legged Hawk: 15
Northern Harrier: 9
Also of note, which may be useful info to any CBC teams that have these
territories, I saw a few birds of interest.
- RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS: 10- 1/4 mile East of Jersey St/ Goodrich Corners
intersection in corn field.
- EASTERN BLUEBIRDS: 6- near intersection of Button Bay Rd./Jersey St.
-WHITE-THROATED SPARROW + SONG SPARROW: 1 each in a flock of Tree Sparrows
along the stream on Country Club Rd. It's too bad this isn't in any CBC
