Hello again VT Birders,

I'd like to add a chapter to Eric's report regarding finding the Snowy! 
There was another accomplice....a Red-tailed Hawk!  Eric and I had driven 
past "something on top of a tree" (hawk) and decided to go back and check it 
out.  We let Ian and Ron know we were pursuing something as they continued 
south.  Once we determined it was a Red-tail, we headed south to find the 
team.  Next Eric saw Ian traveling back (north), so he gave the thumbs down 
sign indicating not our target bird.  Eric and I continued a  few minutes 
further, turning onto Basin Harbor Road.  Eric decided to call Ian again to 
see what the next plan was.  He noticed the time was 11:11, and suggested I 
make a wish.  "I wish Eric could see a Snowy Owl," I said aloud.  Ian 
answered his phone and told us that he and Ron were still in the spot where 
they received Eric's signal, only now their thumbs were up!  They had found 
the elusive Snowy!  If it hadn't been for that hawk, we all would have 
driven right on by!

Hello Vermont Birders:

Ali Wagner, Ian Worley, Ron Payne, and I teamed up for some fun birding in
Addison County this morning. Somebody else might offer a more complete
report but I wanted to share a couple of highlights while there is still
some daylight.

We had a way out Long-tailed Duck from under the bridge at Chimney Point.

Remarkably, Ali spotted a possible Snowy Owl in flight from Chimney Point.
She was looking toward Bridport so we headed down to investigate.
Eagle-eyed Ali was right!

Ron and Ian found it standing in a corn stubble field on the east side of
Rt. 125. It was just south of the town line with Addison and north of Lake
Street. It wasn't close but it was spectacular.
