If you look at my iNat submission, my placement of the marker is pretty

We were directly north of that on the road before it bends, which is a 
bit of a high point. The larks and buntings were in the plowed field in 
front of us, and the Short-Eared Owls came out of the grassy field 
behind the fence. It's best to approach the road from 17 at the west 
end because the eastern part of the road from Jersey St. can be a 
little rough. There are several farm field entrances that you can pull 
off and park in. 

The most important advice I have would be to be patient and don't give 
up until it has reached absolute darkness. It's seems to be that moment 
when you feel like it's not going to happen that the Short-eared Owls 
finally come out. Good luck!
