Lately we are receiving more and more denials for patients with a prior history of saphenous vein stripping that present and painful varicose veins. Often our Duplex exam will reveal either an incompetent perforator or other non saphenous vein cause for the varicosities. These patient's phlebectomies are being denied by the insurance carriers because they do not demonstrate reflux at the SFJ.
???? I am very confused by this and wonder if anyone else is having similiar problems.
