Birded the roads of Addison with Denny Abbott from 11 to 3 on the 4th. Strong winds undoubtedly kept raptors and others low, and blowing snow limited visibility, but had a great time anyway, mostly birding from the car -
Snowy Owl - 3 -
Route 17 0.4 mile E of the store at Lake St., perched on the barn owl box on the N side of the road
Town Line Road 0.5 mile E of Route 125, perched on the barn on the N side of the road (mostly out of the wind)
Route 17 1/2 mile E of the goose viewing area, perched at the top of a 50 ft tree a bit to the S of the road - a whiter bird
Peregrine Falcon - 1 at Gage Road
Kestrel - 1 on Jersey St.
Rough-legged Hawk - 6 including 1 dark phase at Gage Road
Red-tailed Hawk - 5
5 flocks of larks/longspurs/buntings along the roadsides -
Horned Larks - 74
Lapland Longspurs - 16
Snow Buntings - 15
