This morning I walked the Middlebury Area Land Trust's newest trail, the Prunier trail on the section between Hamilton Rd. and Rt. 23 in Weybrdge in hopes of finding shrubland birds. I did find Brown Thrashers, Eastern Towhees and Field Sparrows, but the show-stopper was a beautiful male Orchard Oriole found singing and hopping around tree tops. At one point it was escorted out of a tree by a pair of Baltimore Orioles, not the first time I've seen the two species interact.
