Last night (at home) I connected my laptop to the VPN to get the Patch
Tuesday updates. I got the toast message saying that 11 updates were
available, and told it to install them all. Checking back (much) later,
it appeared that it had only done one of the updates, and the others all
still indicated they would be installed at 4AM on Monday June 16. They
did not have the "waiting to be installed status" or "downloading" or
any other indication that it was at least working on them. So, I
selected each of the remaining updates one at a time (would be nice to
be able to select all, but oh well) and told it to install them outside
my working hours and restart if necessary. Checking this morning, I find
that all of the non-Microsoft products have installed their updates and
seem happy. The Microsoft updates, however, all indicate a pending
restart on 6/16 at 4:00 AM, and when I tell Software Center to go ahead
and restart, I get an error that a system restart cannot be completed at
this time. (See screenshots)
Needless to say, I will go ahead and restart the laptop myself. But, any
idea why Software Center cannot do the restart? For what it's worth,
this is the same laptop for which sync has been failing for the last
couple of weeks with an Access Denied error for the MyDocs\My
Music\Downloads folder.
