Hmm, we use calendars instead of spreadsheets, but it's the same idea.
This isn't something that's come up here. I wonder if it's because we
have enough tech to meet the demand, or because teachers just don't go
into the calendars and delete their reservations when they don't need
stuff. That would be kind of rude, but I'm sure it happens, too.
I wonder if the staff who are clamoring for notification when a slot opens
up are a majority, or if you're going to have as many people annoyed by
the notifications as will have people who are happy to be getting them.
If the latter, you'll need a way to opt in or opt out of the notices.
I wonder if you could just create a mailing list of folks who want these
notices, and ask teachers to email the list when they delete a
reservation, and not bother to program it?
