A generous offer, but might I suggest you name it something distinctive to your region/campus...?

the "USU Open" sounds too much like our USU National championship...I realize that was John's intent, but I would still prefer a title that's distinctive to the tournament rather than a spin off from our national final...

I'd support The John Meany Classic, since he's contributed so much to forensics over the years.

John is a huge supporter of outreach to virtually everything and everybody (young students, other cultures, etc.) so perhaps a title that radiates that inclusiveness - maybe one that welcomes Canada, Mexico, China and all the world to attend

How about: The SoCal PanAmerican Classic....or just The PanAmerican...or The SoCal PanAm with time out during the event to celebrate outreach efforts like those John does so well. Find a way to embrace California's inclusive nature in the title?

Or, if Poly wants a distinctive title, apart from Claremont, either geography or a clever reminder of what make Cal Poly so wonderful might be nice..."BP by the Bay" or "The Engineer: A World Debate Tournament by the Bay"

You get the idea.

Hi to all my friends

Given John's decision to remove Claremont from the schedule in fall, Cal Poly is open to hosting the USU Open if we can work out the dates and needs of the community. We cant make promises, but we'd like to explore the possibilities. Feedback as to whether this is of interest to the community.
