We’ve been getting reports from all over the college that the most recent version of Thunderbird breaks Group/List Emailing.
Specifically, longstanding lists in a users address book suddenly no longer work, and instead return the following error:
“List Name <“List Name"> is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form [log in to unmask] You must correct it before sending the e-mail.”
If you export the list to CSV, open it in Excel, create a new list in the Thunderbird address book, the new list will work.
However, if you rename the list to the same name as the old list (deleting the old list first) you are again unable to send.
It appears that this is an old problem dating back to 2007. I guess they rebroke whatever they fixed to make this go away back then?
Have to say that I’m really looking forward to having something other than Thunderbird to recommend to my Windows administrative users.
