A rare visitor to my feeders in Leicester for the past week has been a male Red-bellied Woodpecker. I have only ever seen one a couple of times in the 30 years I have lived here, and then only at a distance. This male visits every day, since Storm Damon arrived, to dine at the black oil feeder and on the suet block hanging outside my kitchen window. What a treat! Shelagh Smith.
