This is just a little announcement to let birders know that eBird hotspots have been added to all the Vermont sections of the D & H Rail Trail from Castleton south to Poultney, and West Pawlet south to the New York line in Rupert. Due to the length of the trail, it has been broken up into eight separate hotspots divided by road crossings. The Rutland County sections came at the request of Rutland County Audubon who would like to encourage birders to bird the trail and submit their sightings. After meeting that request, doing the Bennington County section too was a no brainer. Ian Worely and I had noted the trail in that area as places we would like to visit in the future while we were passing by, and plan to definitely visit them this summer.
