On Sunday, Dec. 14, Malinda Chapman and I examined the dead raptor on the
snowbank by the goose viewing area on Rt. 17. It was an adult light phase
rough legged hawk, probably a female. So, keep looking for the prairie
falcon, because it is probably still alive and out there somewhere.
We spent over an hour on Sunday on Otter Creek Rd. looking for the prairie
falcon, but only found redtails and a Cooper's hawk.
Also, if anyone finds a snowy owl, please post it. I want to see one again
this winter after falling in love with them last year, and so far most of
them seem to be moving through and not staying very long in any one place.
