Sorry for the bad rhyme & alliteration, but it's true. Today I saw my first
American Tree Sparrows & Horned Larks of the fall, so I guess it's well and
truly here to stay.
If your looking for a lovely variety of ducks try Lake Carmi (thanks to
Team Pipit for the tip!). I spent the afternoon there watching:
Common & Red-breasted Mergansers, Common Loons,
White-winged & Black Scoter,
Northern Shovelers. . .
There were more, but I have to leave some mystery for you!
And shorebirds at Missisquoi Wildlife Refuge:
White-rumped Sandpiper (injured),
Spotted Sandpipers - again among others!
So that's my pitch for the great birds hanging out in Franklin County.
**I'd add the adult Little Gull that cruised by with a bunch of Bonaparte
Gulls, but cruised by days it all - they came, saw, conquered, and cruised
off out farther into Lake Champlain.
