Ted Murin, Steve Antell and I found a
Nelson's Sparrow this morning at 7:38 a.m.
This bird was initially spotted by Ted while
it was in flight. He watched it touch down
on some sedge and said, "There's one".
We all had several great looks at it and at
one point was about 6' from us with
unobstructed views. After a few minutes,
Ron Payne and Ian Worley showed up and
also got to see it. We found this bird on the
right side of the road that begins at the
parking lot. It was hanging around the 2nd
ditch (on the right), with water in it. That
ditch is also just before where the road takes a
90 degree turn to the left.
Good luck if you try for it.
