Reports so far from Tomhannock have been of rather modest numbers of waterfowl and eagles...best bird was a Gr. Wh-fronted Goose at the north end over a week ago.  This week's cold weather should improve viewing at Tomhannock.

You referred to Rt  9 (VT Rt. 9 west of Bennington).  As soon as it crosses into NY, it changes to Rt. 7.  It is Rt. 7 that crosses the causeway at the south end of Tomhannock Res.

I usually make a trip or two in the fall to Tomhannock and will probably do so in the next 1-2 weeks.  Ir's active until freeze up.

We have traditionally made a Nov foray for ducks over to Tomhannock  - the
reservoir split by Rte 9 on the way to Troy, NY.  Has anyone traveled that road
of late and noticed any rafts of geese, ducks, etc?   Is there a listserv for
birds of the greater Albany area?   So far we have come up with few reports of
migrating activity there.
