While reading and occasionally glacing at what was at the feeder, up pops a
Carolina wren perched on top of a deck chair and just a few feet from me.
It stared intently at the window that separated us. It searched the nooks
and crannies looking I think for spider casings or other overwintering
insects. This is my first sighting of one at my home base in Orleans County
close by Lake Memphremagog in Derby.
Also observed was a tight raft of 250+ goldeneyes, a flock of Bohemian
waxwings, and a brown creeper. Nice start!
